(pattern in French then in English ...)

Fournitures :
- un crochet n°2 (choisi volontairement plus fin que le coton ne le nécessite)
- du coton blanc cassé pour le "glaçage" (coton fifty Bergère de France)
- du coton rouge pour la cerise (coton fifty Bergère de France)
- du coton au parfum que vous désirez pour le gâteau : je l'ai fait goût praliné avec du cotolin Bergère de France
- du rembourrage synthétique

Le fond du gâteau : avec le fil de coton de votre choix
- faire 8 m chainette (mch) et fermer le cercle par une maille coulée (mc).
- rang 1 : 3 m en l'air (ml), 14 brides (br) dans le cercle, fermer par 1 mc.
- rang 2 : 3 ml,1 br dans la même m, 2 br dans chaque br du rang précédent = 30 m, fermer par 1mc.
- rang 3 : 1 ml, *2 m serrées (ms) dans la 1° br, 1 ms dans la suivante *, répéter de * à * fermer par 1 mc. On obtient 45 m.
- rang 4 : ne piquer le crochet que dans le brin arrière des m du rang précédent pour former la base. Faire 1 ml, *2 ms, 1 ms sur 2 m* , répéter de * à *, fermer par 1 mc. On obtient 30 m.
- rangs 5  et 6 : 1 ml, 1 ms dans chaque m, fermer par 1 mc. On a toujours 30 m.
- rang 7 : 1 ml, *3 ms, 2 ms dans la 4° m*, répéter de * à * fermer par 1 mc. On obtient 38 m.
- rang 8 : 1 ml, 1 ms dans chaque m, fermer par 1 mc.
- rang 9 : 1 ml, *3 ms, 2 ms dans la 4° m*, répéter de * à * fermer par 1 mc. On obtient 47 m.
- rangs 10, 11 et 12 : 1 ml, 1 ms dans chaque m, fermer par 1 mc.
Couper le fil et terminer.

Le glaçage :
avec le fil blanc cassé, faire 5 m ch, fermer en rond par 1 mc.
- rang 1 : 1 ml, 10 ms dans le cercle. Ne pas fermer par 1 mc à chaque fin de rang, de façon à ne pas former de démarcation sur le dessus du gâteau. Mettez en place un morceau de fil contrastant pour repérer le début du rang.
- rang 2 : 1 ml, 2 ms dans chaque m, on obtient 20m.
- rang 3 : 1 ml, *2 m serrées dans la 1° m, 1 ms dans la suivante *, répéter de * à * . On obtient 30 m.
- rang 4 : 1 ml, *2 ms dans la 1° m, 2 ms * , répéter de * à *. On obtient 40 m.
- rang 5 : 1 ml, *2 ms dans la 1° m, 3 ms * , répéter de * à *. On obtient 50 m.
- rang 6 : 1 ml, * 2 ms dans la 1° m, 9 ms*, répéter de * à *. On obtient 55 m. 
- rangs 7 et 8 : 1 ml, 1 ms dans chaque m, fermer par 1 mc à la fin du 8° rang.
- bordure :  retourner l'ouvrage et crocheter sur l'autre côté qui devient l'endroit (plus régulier). * 3 ms dans la 1° m, 1 mc dans la m suivante*, répéter de * à *, fermer par 1 mc, couper le fil et terminer 

La cerise :
avec le fil rouge, faire 6 m ch et fermer en rond par 1 mc.
- rang 1 : faire 8 ms dans le cercle.
- rang 2 : 1 ml, 2 ms dans chaque m, on obtient 16 m.
- rang 3 : 1 ml, *2 m serrées dans la 1° m, 1 ms dans la suivante *, répéter de * à * . On obtient 24 m.

Montage :
- coudre avec une aiguille à tapisserie le haut du fond du gâteau avec le glaçage en passant le fil dans le dernier rang de ms de façon à ce que le rang de bordure soit libre. - coudre les 4/5° du pourtour, rembourrez le gâteau avec la bourre synthétique, puis fermer le reste du pourtour.
- coudre les 3/4 du pourtour de la cerise (retournée sur l'envers pour un aspect plus régulier) au centre du glaçage avec du fil à coudre rouge. Rembourrez légèrement le dôme de la cerise et terminez la couture. 
- rentrez et coupez tous les fils.  

Materials :

-         Hook 2 mm (B)

-         White cotton thread for the top

-         Red cotton thread for the sherry

-         Cotton thread of your favourite “taste”  (mine is praline)

-         Stuff

Cake : With the cotton thread you choose

-         ch 8, close the circle with 1 sl.

-         Row 1 : ch 3, 14 dc in the circle, close with 1 sl.

-         Row 2 : ch 3, 1 dc in the same dc, 2 dc in each dc of the previous row, end with 1 sl = 30 sts.

-         Row 3 : ch 1, *1 sc in the first dc, 2 sc in the next one* , repeat from * to *, end with 1 sl = 45 sts.

-         Row 4 :  pass the hook only under the front thread of the st from the previous row. Ch 1, * 2 sc, 1 sc over 2 sc * , repeat from * to * , end with a sl = 30 sts.

-         Rows 5 and 6 : ch 1, 1 sc in each sc , end with a sl = still 30 sts.

-         Row 7 : ch 1, * 3 sc, 2 sc in the next sc *, repeat from * to *, end with 1 sl = 38 sts.

-         Row 8 : ch 1, 1 sc in each sc, end with a sl = 38 sts.

-         Row 9 : ch 1, * 3 sc, 2 sc in the next sc *, repeat from * to *, end with 1 sl = 47 sts.

-         Rows 10 to 12 : ch 1, 1 sc in each sc, end with a sl.

-         Cut the tread and stop the work.

Frosting : with white cotton thread

-         ch 5, close the circle with 1 sl

-         Row 1 : ch 1, 10 sc into the circle. Do not close the row with 1 sl, so that you won’t have any mark onto your cupcake. Put a marker or a contrasting colour thread to mark the beginning of the row.

-         Row 2 : ch 1, 2 sc in each sc of the previous row = 20 sts.

-         Row 3 : ch 1, * 2 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the next one * repeat from * to * , = 30 sts.

-         Row 4 : ch 1, * 2 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the next two sc *, repeat from * to * = 40 sts.

-         Row 5 : ch 1, * 2 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the next three sc *, repeat from * to * = 50 sts.

-         Row 6 : ch 1, * 2 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the next four sc *, repeat from * to * = 55 sts.

-         Rows 7 and 8 : ch 1, 1 sc in each sc of the previous row, close with a sl at the end of the 8° row.

-         Scalloped edge : turn your work on the wrong side (which become the right side and is more regular) , * 3 sc in the first sc, 1 sl in the next sc * repeat from * to *, end with 1 sl.

-         Cut the thread and stop the work.

The sherry : with red cotton thread

-         ch 6 and close the circle with 1 sl.

-         Row 1 : ch 1, 7 sc in the circle.

-         Row 2 : ch 1, 2 sc in each sc of the previous row = 16 sts.

-         Row 3 : ch 1, * 2 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the next sc *, repeat from * to *, = 24 sts.

-         Cut the thread and stop the work.

Finishing :

-         sew with a tapestry needle, the frosting to the edge of the cake just inside the scalloped edge so that the border will be free. Only sew the 4/5 of the round, fill the cake with stuff, then sew the last part of the edge.

-         Sew the 3/4 of the sherry on top of the cake with red thread. Fill a little the sherry with stuff, then finish the sewing.

-         Weave in ends.
